Several large trees were cut down yesterday. What a relief! They were potential hazards to my house and garage. There is still much clean-up to do and wood to be moved either to the wood racks or someplace out of the way to be cut for firewood next time I get my hands on a chainsaw.

Believe it or not, only one tomato plan was harmed when this fell. The raised bed itself looks like it will require a bit of fixing. I hauled quite a bit of wood, and am now even using a “chunk” as a table (see photo above bottom right.)
The one downside of taking down one of the large trees is that it was where my laundry line was attached. Wet clothes in the washer and no where to hang them…

After – the great leaning tree is gone!
Just a note. You may remember I had 8 Cleveland Pears in my back yard and though the summertime shade was wonderful, I could only grow shade-loving plants. Then two summers ago, I had ONE tree taken out by the fence. What an enormous difference that made. Now I have about a 10′ x 10′ space where it is sunny most of the day, and I now have many sun-loving herbs and perennials. You may discover that you have changed your gardening options in a big way, and your tomato plants may be saying “Thank you, thank you!!”
I sure hope so!
Cause they were playing at an old movie house, and I was there †front and center †to see what had become by then my favorite band.
