It was bound to happen…the gas usage increased drastically this past month, with (1) the cold weather – yes, even with keeping the thermostat at 50 degrees, and (2) opening doors for at least 30 if not 45 minutes with 20 degree weather outside to get rid of the accumulated smoke from the fireplace when a friend started a fire, forgot to open the flue then fell asleep.
The number of therms used was 51.5 – up considerably from the 13.2 therms last month with just some heat usage. The 51.5 therms is a reduction of 31.83 therms from the Average Annual American Household or AAAH, when divided by 12, or a 38.2% decrease. However, when I average out the last six months, I have a decrease in usage (from the AAAH) of 81.96%. I’m hoping for a mild winter. 🙂
