A good friend of mine is volunteering at the polls this morning. He is one who generally works until the wee hours of the morning and doesn’t get up until almost noon. This morning he needed to be at the polling location at 5 am and he asked me – a very early riser – to call him at 4:30 am to make sure he hadn’t turned off all of his alarms and gone back to sleep. I set my alarm just in case – but found myself up well before 4 this morning. I felt like I used to on the first day of school – excited about the new possibilities of the day.
The morning was beautiful, just a tad nippy outside as the sun began to rise. The polls opened this morning at 6 am here in St. Louis. I was in line by 5:30 and was 73 in line. By the time the polls actually opened there must have been 250 to 300 people in line. What a WONDERFUL SITE! I voted and was out the door by 6:55 feeling good about the process.
