From “The Toilet Guy” – yes this is how the friend who helped with the “HOW TO… Fix A Toilet” post listed himself in this email to me. He is also the person who wrote out the vinaigrette recipe for me. So, here it is… direct from “The Toilet Guy”:
Since the vinaigrette recipe was such a hit, I thought I would share one of my favorite summer drink recipes. Feel free to use it when your stumped for something to put on the blog.
Thanks, TG – here it is.
This one is a summer punch (like rum punch) that comes from one of my all time favorite cooking shows, Two Fat Ladies. It’s also one of those great recipes that comes in a little limerick which makes it easy to remember. It goes….
One of Sour, Two of Sweet, Three of Strong, Four of Weak
- By sour they mean any type of sour, acidic citrus juice (Lime juice, lemon juice, grapefruit juice, pineapple juice-go wild and use passion fruit.)
- By sweet of course they mean something sweet (like simple syrup which is equal parts sugar and water heated until the sugar is dissolved and cooled, or you could use honey, grenadine or any of the myriad alternative sweeteners at health food stores. Our friend has been having some good luck with Sucanat. Since this is Jamaican In origin, cane syrup works well.)
- By strong they mean something with alcohol in it (Rum is traditional-use white instead of brown, but tequila, vodka or gin would work) If you decide to use something like white wine as a lighter alternative reduce the amount of sweetener by about half, unless you like it really sweet.
- Weak could be (Water, club soda, 7 up, diet 7 up) I have not tried tonic but who knows could be interesting.
Finish by throwing in some ice and some optional fresh fruit for color.
Great for those summers in the backyard with friends.
