These past few weeks have been a little (a lot) crazy. All the hats I wear – work, church, personal, etc. have all piled on pretty heavy recently. My life has been filled with more drama, work, travel (into the city and other areas of heavy traffic) on a far too regular basis, and I’ve just been too distracted to blog.
The tomatoes may not be densely growing on each plant – but with as many plants as I have, there are a lot of Roma tomatoes almost ripe and my Big Boys are getting bigger. The cherry tomatoes have been producing quite a bit for about a week and a half, and I snack on those when I go out to the garden and keep a bowl of them on the counter to grab instead of something I really shouldn’t. I pulled my second cucumber for slicing into a salad yesterday, and it was delicious. There are a number of others starting to get large and a lot of blooms on the plant. The zucchini plants also have a bounty of blooms, and the butternut squash plants are finally really taking off. The basil is nows starting to look like basil, so I am hopeful it will start to get bigger very soon.
I had my cat, Punkin, put to sleep Saturday. Another difficult event in an already difficult week. I made the appointment, then Punkin and I played outside – just the two of us (Maggie was left in the house) – and he ate all kinds of grass, and rubbed up against me and pounced on insects. It was a difficult decision to say goodbye, but given many factors, it was what needed to happen. Sometimes being a responsible adult pet owner really sucks.
One of the items I was dreading as being difficult today was not. I guess that is what happens when one expects the worst – sometimes there is a happy surprise when things go well.
I am hoping that a few of the issues that have been weighing me down these past few weeks will be less of a time drain fairly shortly.
